Did you ever drive a van, ride a train, or take a cruise and just gaze out the window? We all have at one time or another. Oftentimes, we see a house or a cabin and wonder who lives there and what do they do.
While you stop at Icy Straight Point in Hoonah, you can take a 2 hour ride with the Diamond family and truly have an unforgettable Alaskan experience.
Jack Diamond, a Yupik Eskimo and Native Youth Olympian will guide you through time as he shares his stories growing-up in Alaska.
Jack participated at the State level of NYO (Native Youth Olympics) and will demonstrate some of the events and explain how it relates to surveil in the past. You will also come away with some Yupik Eskimo words and phrases you can use when meeting other First Alaskans.
Howard Diamond, a rural Alaskan and Alaskan Educator for over 35 years will make the Alaskan “bush” come alive with stories as you travel through Hoonah.
Will we see animals? Maybe…? there are lots of them roaming around.
Our hope is that each visitor leaves our short time together with a richer and deeper understanding of Alaska. Its Elders, its children, its people, its surroundings.
